Irmo Neighbors Helping Neighbors Hosts Community Food & Supply Drive

Irmo, SC — April 19, 2026 — Irmo Neighbors Helping Neighbors is once again bringing the community together for a food and supply drive aimed at supporting local families in need.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 7326 College Street in Irmo, SC. Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, personal care products, and pet supplies to help restock local food pantries, blessing boxes, animal rescues, and senior services.

Organizer Julie Zimmerman says the mission behind the effort is simple but powerful: ensuring that no one in the community goes hungry.

“No one should go without food,” Zimmerman said. “The heart of Irmo Neighbors Helping Neighbors is rooted in the teachings of Jesus, especially Matthew 25, reminding us to care for one another, serve those in need, and come together as a community.”

Donations from the drive will benefit local organizations including Sharing God’s Love, Senior Services at Seven Oaks Park, area blessing boxes, animal rescues and food pantries throughout the Irmo and Ballentine areas.

Zimmerman is calling on residents, families, and local groups to step up once again and make this drive a success.

“This community has shown up time and time again for those in need. Last year when Irmo Neighbors Helping Neighbors hosted two food drives and a holiday drive, the outpouring of support was tremendous. We were able to help countless families and people in need. It shows me that our values are what binds us together in this community. Too often these days, we look at our differences and we overlook what we have in common. I want to get back to that and this is one reason why I continue to organize these food drives. It shows what we can accomplish when we come together so let’s do it again.” Zimmerman said.

Those interested in volunteering or partnering as an organization are encouraged to reach out.
